Fiskardo lies in a sheltered bay in the NE of Kefalonia. It was the only town on the island not destroyed by the earthquake in 1953 and has landmark status. The harbour is sheltered from winds, but it can get dangerous in the harbour when strong S or SE wind blows. Yachts moor bow-to or stern-to at the quays in the south and west at a water depth of up to 5 m. The depth is 2 m towards the quay. The SW quay is reserved for local boats. Boats can moor in the north of the bay with shore lines, it is not allowed to obstruct the ferries. When a south wind blows, there is a swell in some places in the harbour. Expect a swell generated by the ferries. The water and power boxes are disconnected (last update as of June 2015).
There are a variety of taverns, cafés and shopping amenities right at the harbour and in the historic centre.
