Mongonisi Bay lies on the south-eastern side of Paxos. The bay provides shelter, only strong winds from the north create strong swells in the bay. The sea bed consists of sand and seaweed and has a good hold as long as the anchor can find some hold through all the seaweed. The surrounding hills are covered in cypresses and pine trees, a few holiday homes blend into the landscape.
An alternative to swinging from a hook is the quay at the restaurant Monginisi Beach. However, the water depth here varies and you may have to moor bow-to. You can not only dine well at the restaurant, but you can also order fresh bread for the next morning.
At the end of the small sand beach you will come across the music bar Carnayo where you can enjoy the last few hours of the day. Only shallow draught motorboats or dinghies can moor here.
