The Vounaki Marina is located directly south of Palairos on the western coast of the Greek mainland, at the foot of the Arkanika Mountains. The former Sunsail base is since 2015 operated by Neilson.
The owners deliberately chose this location as the proximity to Aktion National Airport means that the yacht harbour can be reached quickly. It is an ideal starting point for trips through...
the beautiful sailing area of the Ionian Islands.
When approaching the harbour, the extensive club resort, which houses the marina and also belongs to the Sunsail Group, serves as a navigational aid. The breakwater becomes visible once you sail closer. It is also lit at night and protects the marina from all winds. Right in front of the entrance, however, keep enough distance from the buoys used by jolly boats as the water depth here is very low.
Vounaki Marina has 70 berths, all offering the services you would expect of a modern marina. The sanitary facilities with showers and toilets are located on the eastern quay.
Fuel can be obtained at the bunker pier at the northern entrance.
Since Neilson took over the the marina, transit guets are not welcome. They want the marina just for their own fleet.
Shopping in Palairos There is a small supermarket in Vounaki Marina. More excellent shopping amenities can be found in Palairos, which will take 15 minutes to reach on foot, including supermarkets as well as bakeries and butcher's shops. Food and Leisure in Palairos Visitors can enjoy drinks as well as snacks In the two bars at the marina. There are also restaurants in the club resort. In addition, more culinary offers can be found in Palairos along the waterfront and at the local harbour.
The area surrounding the marina is excellent for exploring the landscape on foot or by bike or for taking part in one of the many water sports activities in the sea. Visitors can also hire a car and visit one of the nearby towns or drive to the neighbouring island of Lefkas.
