poiDetails.description

There is a harbour as well as a marina in this small town on the western coast of the island of Aegina. The Greek national flag was first hoisted here after the War of Independence. The harbour is protected from winds and has berths for yachts with a draught of up to 2.4 m. Boats moor bow-to or stern-to at the town quay. Because the ferries generate a swell, boats should keep enough distance from the quay. There is a swell in the harbour when stormy winds blow from the south. It is crowded in the harbour especially from Thursdays to Mondays as many cruise vessels and visitors from Athens moor here. Before entering the harbour, visitors have to contact the coast guard. There are a variety of restaurants and shopping amenities right at the harbour.
