Marina Veli Iž

ght signal makes it  easy to recognise the entrance at night. But if coming from the north, you should sail in a wide arc to enter the yacht harbour as the sewer tunnel from the hotel there reduces the water depth considerably.

Marina Veli Iž is a small and sheltered marina on the southern side of the harbour. It has 50 berths with mooring lines, all with electricity and water, and 150 dry berths. Should they be filled, then you can also moor at the west quay of the town harbour. There it is recommended to tie the bow to the quay and to drop the stern anchor.

The sanitary facilities at the marina have showers and WCs and the guests at the town harbour can also use them.

The island of Iž does not have its own fuel station for ships. The closest fuel station is in Zaglav on the neighbouring island of Dugi Otok.

Shopping in Veli Iž
As the marina is located directly in the centre of Veli Iž, there are shopping amenities in the  immediate vicinity. Apart from two small supermarkets and a very good bakery, many private individuals sell their own wine and olive oil. Early in the morning you can buy fresh fish at the fish market at the harbour.

Food and leisure in Veli Iž
The marina has a newly built restaurant with a café. In the village of Veli Iž a number of good restaurants and konobas serve national and international dishes. Steak lovers should visit the legendary Mandrać restaurant on the western side of the harbour, with its excellent barbecue specialities and steaks up to 600 grammes. Most restaurants, however, are only open from Easter to October.

It is especially worth visiting the interesting potter's workshop run by the Petrović family near the ferry dock in Veli Iž. In summer they produce pottery using the traditional Ižer method and visitors can also buy these products.
