considered by many to be just as sophisticated as Saint-Tropez or Monaco. Hvar is popular with young and old alike and is regarded as a party mecca. People revel in the bars and clubs until the small hours of the morning. This brings with it the corresponding background noise. There is always activity at the harbour and it is extremely difficult to get a berth at the quay in summer.

With a bit of luck, it might be possible to moor with mooring lines at the eastern quay. The mooring lines should be pulled tight as there could be a swell in the harbour caused by the weather or heavy traffic. Water and electricity are included. A few buoys can be found on the south-west side of the harbour basin subject to a charge but they are usually taken. A marinero will pick up the documents when boats are mooring and sailors can then collect them from the harbour office as well as pay immediately. This, however, could prove to be difficult without a dinghy.

Mooring lines for local boats can be found at the harbour and in front of the fuel station. The ropes are often tied to plastic bottles to make it easier to pick them up. However, they can easily be overlooked and the rope can then get caught in the screw. It is often prohibited to anchor in the harbour basin as a lack of space means that not enough chain can be put out and larger yachts are obstructed when trying to anchor.
