Marinas Sardinia

Marinas in Sardinia - moorings for every need

Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean, fulfills almost every sailing wish with a diverse selection of marinas, harbours and moorings. Whether leisure sailors, motor boaters or luxury yacht owners, everyone will find the right service and first-class nautical infrastructure here.
For those who are looking for a perfect daytime berth with a charter yacht and want to experience the dolce vita and nightlife at the same time, lively marinas such as Porto Cervo or Poltu Quatu offer an ideal port of call. Those who prefer things a little quieter can head to places like Villasimius or Teulada. Seasonal moorings are limited and tend to be more expensive, as day moorings in busy areas are preferred.

Year-round moorings, on the other hand, are often more affordable outside the main season. Populated harbor towns such as Alghero, Castelsardo, Olbia, Arbatax or Calasetta are suitable for wintering all year round.

When passing through on the way to the Atlantic, east or north, larger but still manageable harbor towns such as Alghero, Olbia or Cagliari offer transit berths for a short stopover. Here you can run errands, buy spare parts or carry out any necessary work. Dry mooring providers, shipyards and various nautical service providers have also established themselves around many marinas.

Regional differences

West coast: The west is exposed to the wild "mar di fuori", where strong surf makes anchoring difficult. Alghero's marina is picturesquely situated below the medieval old town with its massive city walls and towers built by Catalan occupiers.

East coast: The east coast, on the other hand, is mostly quiet and peaceful under the protection of the mountains and offers spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The Golfo di Orosei is particularly known for its beauty and natural treasures.

North coast: In the north, the coasts compete for the sea's favor, especially at the stormy Bocche di Bonifacio. On clear days, the area between the islands of Asinara and Tavolara is a sailing dream. Together with the Costa Smeralda, Olbia is the cosmopolitan gateway to the island and offers good accessibility by plane during the season.

South coast: The south coast of Sardinia is closer to warm Africa and offers a unique blend of North African flair and Italian lifestyle. Cagliari, the island's capital, is a cultural center with a rich history and modern amenities.
For long-distance sailors and transients

Sardinia is isolated, except for a short hop of 12 nautical miles to Corsica. The distances to the European mainland are considerable. The Italian mainland is around 150 nautical miles (from Rome) or 200 nautical miles (from Naples) away. The nearest mainland in North Africa, Tunisia, is only 90 nautical miles away from Cagliari. The journey to the Adriatic and the eastern Mediterranean, including Greece, is around 1,000 nautical miles, while the distance to Turkey is as much as 1,500 nautical miles.

The high demand for both annual and transit berths naturally also has an impact on prices. Especially in hotspots such as the Costa Smeralda. Some marinas in Sardinia are among the most expensive in Italy. Exact prices for daily berths can be found on mySea. The service, on the other hand, is praised by most berth owners. Mooring lines, electricity and water are a matter of course. Many marinas also offer a professional boatyard service. This ranges from minor cosmetic repairs and work on the rig or engine to complete boat overhauls.
