Mithimna

Mithymna is a holiday resort as well as an artists' colony. The town consists of a maze of cobbled alleys and passageways. A law for the protection of historic buildings and monuments is supposed to ensure the conservation of the town. Mithymna harbour is protected by a breakwater. The inner harbour is additionally protected by a mole that runs parallel to the breakwater. At a water depth of up to 3 m, smaller yachts can moor stern-to at the breakwater or town quay between local fishing boats. There are rarely free spaces here, it is better to moor in the outer harbour at the mole at a water depth of up to 4 m. The outer end of the breakwater is reserved for cargo ships. Ferries and excursion boats moor at the town quay in the outer harbour. Expect a swell. The outer harbour is protected, the inner harbour even better. A variety of restaurants and shopping amenities can be found in the town. Water and electricity are available at the mole.
