Port Leone is an extensive bay with various anchoring berths. The bay is often described as a natural harbour as it is well protected from most winds. Ships with a low draught can moor directly at the semi-derelict pier in the ghost village of Leone. There are some stones in the water in front of the pier, therefore caution is advised. The water supply in Leon was destroyed in an earthquake in 1953 and the village was abandoned. Only the small church is still looked after. Everything in Leone, also the old olive press, is freely accessible and can be visited.
