Description
Irakleia Harbour lies in Ormos Ag. Georgios Bay at the NE peak of the island of Irakleia. The small harbour offers some protection from south winds but becomes dangerous when a N-NE wind blows. Yachts moor stern-to at the head of the mole at a water depth of up to 4 m. Old mooring chains have made the seabed dirty, a trip line on the anchor is recommended. The area for the ferrieson the outerpart of the quay must always be kept clear and a swell is to be expected. Alternatively, boats anchor in the harbour area at a water depth of up to 3-4 m. Make sure that you do not interfere with the ferries when anchoring. The water becomes shallower quickly towards the shore.
The beach is right at the harbour. A variety of taverns and shopping amenities can be found in the town.
