Description

Assos lies in Assos Bay in the NW of the island of Kefalonia. The small natural harbour is very popular with water sports enthusiasts, although it is not protected from the prevailing winds and therefore very rarely suitable for mooring overnight. Yachts moor at the short mole or the quay at a water depth of up to 2,5 m. Because of the stony seabed boats should not get to close to the waterfront. Alternatively, boats can anchor in the bay at a water depth of up to 10 m. When the north wind blows, there is a swell in the harbour, and it can get dangerous as it gets stronger. A variety of taverns and shopping amenities can be found in the town.
