- It can be difficult to see the harbour lights against the city during the night.
- With the meltemi blowing there is lumpy sea in Khios Channel
- High-speed ferries and coastguard boats send a dangerous swell agains the quay when they are entering or leaving the harbour.
Ships and ferries can generate heavy swells here. Therefore, it is advisable to make sure the anchor holds well and, if necessary, to keep sufficient distance to the pier.
