Karpathos, located in the SE of the island of the same name, is lined with gardens and trees. A friendly and pretty view, which makes up for the rather uncomfortable harbour. Yachts moor at the mole where water is up to 5 m deep. Small yachts can also moor behind the breakwater if there is space between the local boats. The water depth is unclear, therefore it is recommended to approach carefully. The harbour mouth faces NE. Expect a swell when there are strong southerly winds. Expect heavy downbursts when the Meltemi blows, and it becomes bumpy when mooring in the harbour. There are a variety of taverns and shopping amenities in the village.
