Safety note
-bura blows hard in the entry channel
-watch out for shallows and sandbanks by the river Neretva mouth and in the entry channel
-during strong jugo or heavy rain sail mid channel or closer to lateral buoys because of the current from the SW
-current head mostly out to the sea and reach 2 knots, 3 knots when bura is blowing
-during strong S winds current flows inwards and can reach up to 3 knots
-W current in Mala Pošta arm can reach 1 knot when it is affected by the flow of Rijeka Crna
-traffic sailing out of the harbour has right of way and large vessels have special regime
-maximum sailing speed is 6 knots
Approach
-you should only sail along the marked, dredged W course from the mouth -when entering Neretva report to harbourmaster at Ploče on VHF and report when leaving the river 1.5 miles before mouth
