- mind Vranac shallows, marked in front of the N shore of Lapad Peninsula (lateral light) and several reefs in front of the shore, E of this marker, which make sailing close to the shore dangerous
- maximum sailing speed between Daksa and Kantafig Point is 6 knots, and 4 knots in the harbour itself
- anchoring in Batala Cove at the base of the harbour is not recommended as there are many small boats here and many mooring posts and chains on the sea bed
- rebuilding work on the waterfront was still continuing in 2009, with the aim of providing enough depth for passenger boats, so the buoys in front of it have been removed
- during summer squalls from the W and NW it is dangerous in the harbour
Ships and ferries can generate heavy swells here. Therefore, it is advisable to make sure the anchor holds well and, if necessary, to keep sufficient distance to the pier.
- lighthouses on the N point of the islet of Daksa and Kantafig Point (E point of the harbour) - bridge at the entrance to Rijeka Dubrovačka - harbour light at the head of the jetty on the E shore at the beginning of the inner section of the harbour (Petka Pier)
