Description

Geologically speaking, Susak is a phenomenon. While all the neighboring islands are made of rock, the island of Susac has a limestone base overlaid by sandy clay. This phenomenon is difficult for geologists to explain. The harbor is quite narrow and offers little space for maneuvering. The northern pier is usually occupied by excursion boats during the day. Yachts can moor at the south or east jetty. Some mooring lines are laid out. Due to swell and silting, it is advisable to leave enough space to the quay. It is not possible to enter or leave the harbor in bora winds. Strong easterly winds also make the entrance dangerous. There is a marked shoal to the east of the entrance (remains of an old pier). The entrance to the harbor must therefore be made from the northeast. There are no sanitary facilities. However, there are a few restaurants and a supermarket. The entire island is car-free.
