On the south side of Island Vis, from the bay of Rukavac, you will find the small island of Ravnik. Her south western side conceals another natural wonder – the Green Cave. Beams of sunlight pass through the crevasses in the cave’s domed ceiling, shooting green coloured reflections back and forth within the caves interior. The result is a divine effect of green illumination.
The entrance to the Green Cave (Zelena spilja) on the uninhabited island of Ravnik is located higher than it is usual with other caves. Because of that more light gets in the interior of the cave which explains the different colour and the higher brightness. The Green Cave is very popular among divers. Even in deeper water you have very good sight.
