Budikovac Veli is a small island just a bit south of Vis. The Budikovac Bay on the west side is also called "Blue Lagoon". The two offshore islands "Small Budikovac" and "Sanak" form a natural lagoon in which the water is wonderfully clear and shimmers in completely different colors depending on the time of day. The interior of the lagoon is quite shallow and not suitable for sailing yachts.
The island is inhabited by only one person during the season. The landlord operates on Budikovac a small tavern in which mostly vegetables and spices from his own organic garden are served. In addition to fresh fish a few traditional meat dishes are on the menu as well.
There are a number of buoys in the Budikovac bay. The buoys inside the bay are suitable only for (flat-bottomed) motorboats and catamarans. Here the depth is just 1,5m. Sailing yachts pick up the buoys in the outer part of the bay. Here it is sufficiently deep with 3-6 meters. During the season, the buoys actually are always occupied, a reservation is required.
The clear water in the bay is made for long swimming and snorkeling trips. But watch out: There are occasional strong currents in the bay.
