The Mytilene Marina is located in the homonymous capital city on the eastern side of the island of Lesbos, which belongs to the Eastern Sporades. Although west of the entrance to the main harbor was completed in 2007, it was put into operation in 2010. From here you can enjoy a cruise across the sailing area in the northern Aegean and also in Turkey. The convenient location (away from the noisy st...
reets) makes overnight stay in the marina, in contrast to city harbor, much calmer.
When entering, both red and white chimneys of a power plant north of the city serve as a navigation aid. The entrance to the main harbor is then between the eastern head of the new, detached breakwater and the western end of the old pier, both of which are also lit-up each night. In Mytilene marina are 252 well-protected berths, all of which have a power and water supply and on land are additional 30 dry berths.
The showers and toilets of the toilet facilities are new and modern. Fuel supplies a tanker directly to the quay. In an area south of the marina also plenty of parking available.
Shopping The Mytilene marina has a small grocery store and a nautical shop. Next larger supermarkets are only a few minutes’ walking distance and in the center of the city are many supermarkets and smaller grocery stores.
Food and Leisure Addition to the restaurant and the café bar in the Marina many other restaurants, taverns and bars have settled along the waterfront with wide range offers of traditional recipes to good fish dishes and international cuisine.
The landmark of the city of Mytilene is the Byzantine castle from the 6th Century, which towers over the city. But even in the old town you will find countless ancient buildings, many illustrated churches and mosques since Lesbos was once occupied by the Turks. Particularly worth seeing is the ancient theater of the Hellenistic period in the northeastern suburbs.
