Kalymnos lives in the shadows of the well-known neighbouring islands of Symi and Kos and is clearly less touristy. But the hillside town with its narrow alleys is certainly attractive.
Yachts can moor stern-to in the inner harbour right in front of the taverns. The anchorage consists of seaweed and mud which does not always hold. It is certainly advisable to let out enough chain and to ensure that the anchor holds. The berthing situation is not that critical any more because the concrete jetty has been extended. However, it is still not easy to get a berth in high season. Should all of the spaces be filled, you can also double moor as is the norm in Greece. It is forbidden to moor in the yellow area.
The mooring quay runs parallel to a very loud and busy main road. Behind the road there are a number of bars, cafés and restaurants. Shopping amenities are excellent. Various small and larger supermarkets offer a large range of products.
