Description

Ios is especially popular with backpackers. Various beaches, even designated nudist beaches, taverns, supermarkets, bars and discos are full of visitors, in particular in summer. People also sleep on the beaches. In the harbour, yachts moor bow-to or stern-to at the quay at a water depth of up to 5 m. There are a few mooring lines at the E quay, which are marked by an unlit (yellow) buoy. The ferries and express ferries generate a heavy swell and it is recommended to use a fender. The harbour is protected from winds, but expect downbursts when the Meltemi blows.
