Karavostasis lies on the eastern coast of the island of Folegandros in Ormos Karavostasi Bay. The rugged tongue of land and the islets make the view on the approach unique. The harbour is sheltered, it only gets dangerous with easterly winds. The ferry mole is located in the north of the bay, establishing the border to the fishing village. Yachts moor stern-to on the southern side of the jetty coming off from the mole, at a water depth of 4 m. The northern side and the inner area are reserved for fishing boats. The ferry traffic generates a heavy swell especially on the southern side of the jetty. Alternatively, boats can anchor in the bay, which can, however, be dangerous when the Meltemi blows. A few taverns can be found in the town, the food supply varies, depending on the ferry cargo.
