Omis is a small coastal village set against a backdrop of imposing mountains. The small jetty east of the mouth of the river only has a few berths for yachts, which can moor alongside or stern to. Boulders at the quay make it easy to belay the lines. Mainly local boats are to be found on the north-western side. It gets extremely windy in Omis when the Bora wind blows. The approach is best from the south as there is a sandbank in the west where the water is slightly more than 1 m deep.
There are a couple of restaurants and stores to stock up on provisions in the village.

Safety note
-currents are strong and changable -sail on the S side of the buoys by the E side of the river mouth because river can rise unexpectedly -there is a sign marking a wreck -if sailing upriver sail in the center of the channel
The harbour is privately owned so won’t allow overnight berth. Best option is to anchor just south of the small harbour between the two red markers in about 6m depth. It is unprotected from the south so would recommend checking wind conditions but we spent a very peaceful night here with north westerly winds. The town is very underrated - it is a beach resort with a lovely old town - lots of restaurants and supermarkets. There are two forts to climb to - the lower one is about 15 mins of steps but the higher one is either a 45 min or 1hr walk depending on whether you take the hard or easy route - would recommend wearing decent footwear as it is rough terrain.
