Description

The harbour in the island's capital town is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places in Greece and is well worth a visit. There are houses, churches and old town villas lined up next to each other around the rugged crescent-shaped bay, and give the place its special charm. Many yachts will find a secure berth at the northern mole, which is 400 m long. But keep in mind the heavy mooring chain running parallel to the mole 30 m away. Very few mooring lines are available. Water and electricity can be bought for a small fee, which is paid for with the same chip system as used in many places in Greece. There are a number of good taverns, ouzerias, and nice cafés not far from the harbour.
