The marina is located in Naxos town harbor, which lies in the west of the Cyclades Island and was opened in 2002. While entering, a large marble arch on the barrier island serves as a navigation aid and long-drawn breakwater can be seen from afar. Usually a ferry lies in the port city or just runs on and off, which makes the entrance to the harbor a bit difficult. Lights on the head of the breakwa...
ter of the harbor at night are also easily recognizable. Meltemi and ferries cause a tide throughout the basin but by extending southern breakwater the protection of the marina has been greatly improved. Overall, the Marina Naxos has about 80 berths and there are electricity and water connections at the wharf. Boats with deeper draft should however be careful not to dock close to the mainland pier because the water depth significantly decreases here. Normally transit yachts are located directly on the first pier. However, the mooring lines are too short for larger yachts and you have to make do with the anchor. The sanitary facilities with showers and toilets are on the promenade. Fuel can be supplied from a tanker truck on the quay. The place Naxos, with its narrow streets and white houses, is already one of the most popular tourist destinations for many years. The tourism in general and the busy road along the harbor promenade in particular, make the marina a not so tranquil place.
Shopping Naxos has excellent supply options. In addition to 3 large supermarkets, there are many small grocery stores and fresh baked goods from one of the bakeries.
Food and Leisure Along the promenade and in the streets and alleys of the center, more than 70 restaurants, taverns and cafe-bars have settled, certainly offering something for every taste.
The landmark of the town of Naxos , Marble Arch, the Temple of Apollo , is on the barrier island Apollonius , which is connected to the mainland by a dam and the town houses a Venetian castle. But even in the old town in the maze-like streets countless ancient monuments and churches and finds from this period are hidden and can be examined in the archaeological museum.
